Re-Refining Process Overview

Lube base oils are the most valuable constituents in crude oil. Virgin lube oils are recovered from so-called lube crudes by solvent extraction followed by wax (i.e. paraffin) removal. To enhance color and stability, the raw lube is catalytically hydrotreated. Average crude oils have 3-8% lube content, whereas lube crudes typically have 12-16% lube content. This compares with 60-75% recoverable lube content in spent automotive oils, which if burned or dumped would mean the loss of a valuable natural resource.

PROCESS OVERVIEW - Used lube oil, collected by our specialized trucks and technicians from garages, car dealers, service stations, etc., is brought to the re-refining plant. The used oil is then processed to yield lube base stocks, fuel oil and asphalt flux.

The proprietary EVERGREEN-CEP Re-Refining Process is a six step procedure consisting of:

Pre-Treatment
Water and Light Fraction Removal
Fuel Oil Fraction Removal
Separation of Lube by Distillation
Conversion of Lube Distillate through Hydrotreatment to Base Stock
Splitting of Base Stock into Desired Cuts through Fractionation
